Roots pump is a vacuum pump without internal compression. Generally, the compression ratio is very low, so the high and medium vacuum pumps need a front stage pump. It is a vacuum pump that realizes air extraction by moving gas under the pushing action of synchronous and reverse rotation of a pair of blade rotors in the pump cavity. Roots vacuum pump refers to a mechanical vacuum pump with a pair of shoe soled rotors rotating synchronously at high speed. This pump can not pump air alone. The front stage needs to be equipped with oil seal, water ring, etc. to directly exhaust the atmosphere.
Its structure and working principle are similar to roots blower. During operation, its suction port is connected with the evacuated container or the main pump of vacuum system. There is no contact between the rotor and the rotor and between the rotor and the pump shell, and the clearance is generally 0.1 ~ 0.8 mm; Oil lubrication is not required. Rotor profiles include circular arc, involute and cycloid. Involute rotor pump has high volume utilization rate and easy to ensure machining accuracy, so the involute rotor profile is mostly used.
